Liberals in UK are thinking about reversing Brexit

The original Brexit decision was rooted in priorities like reclaiming national sovereignty, regaining control over immigration, and pursuing independent trade agreements—particularly the hope for a favorable deal with the U.S.

However, these aspirations have largely unraveled. The promised U.S.-UK trade agreement never materialized, leaving Britain without the economic alternatives many anticipated. Meanwhile, the UK’s economy has struggled in the aftermath of Brexit, marked by trade disruptions, reduced competitiveness, and slower growth.

Hence the liberals in charge of the UK are considering the potential of rejoining the EU. This idea would be a significant misstep because if Ukraine’s situation deteriorates further, the resulting humanitarian crisis could trigger a surge of refugees seeking asylum in the UK, adding strain to public resources and intensifying domestic political divides.
